Hello Friends!

How’s life going with you? Not bad here. I’ve been having some fun with yarn and my crochet hooks, so much so that I started a little shop to sell crocheted hats, scarves, and other fun things. There isn’t much product yet, as I’m just now getting to tweak patterns/adjust sizing and all that, but as I create new things, I’ve been putting them on the facebook page. Check it out at

And if you have something you need/would like that isn’t on the site, just talk to me, as I can probably work it out for you. I had someone ask me today if I could make a mermaid blanket for her daughter’s birthday and so that may be in the works soon 🙂

Other than the new crochet projects, I’ve been dealing with some weird digestive issues which is a pain in the tush, so hopefully my intestines will get their act together and chill out for me.

I also definitely didn’t realize that the Super Bowl was this weekend, so have fun celebrating all of you who watch and cheer and all that 🙂

Have a good weekend, friends!

Happy Weekend

It’s Sunday and I can’t believe the weekend is almost over. Did it fly by for you too?

Garrett and I had a little date night last night. We got out of the house for a while and wandered around WalMart. Then we met up with the guys at Troll & Toad so Garrett could play some DBZ while I read/looked on. Then we stopped for Chinese food and we came home and curled up on the couch to watch a movie.

We watched Silence of the Lambs, which I had never seen before and it wasn’t too bad. I’ll admit it was a bit slow to start, but overall, I enjoyed it. I had never watched it before as I thought it was a scary movie, but once Garrett described it to me as a crime movie, I was intrigued. I can see why it was a big deal back when it came out, but for me, having watched a ton of crime shows and movies, I wasn’t super impressed.

While we were at Walmart, we came across a yarn bin and Garrett found a few skeins he liked so I’m going to try my hand at crocheting him a hat and scarf. I found a few patterns online through and so I’m excited to give this a whirl. I’ve never crocheted anything beyond a blanket, with a simple double crochet stitch, so I’m kind of excited to try out something new and learn some new stitches/techniques.

Also, we’re two weeks out from the Secret Subject Swap! I signed up for this blog challenge with a group of gals online and essentially we submit subjects to write about, we get our assigned topic, and then write about it once we find out the topic. I got my topic on Friday and the posts will go up in 2 weeks and I’ll include the links to all the other blogs that are participating.

For now, I’ll continue watching Netflix while the hubbs is at Troll & Toad again, and wait for him to grab me a larger crochet hook for this yarn and then just chill out with the hubbs today.

Hope you all have a good week!

Quick post

I’m trying to see if I can figure out the publishing settings for posts in the future. So bear with me if there are a bunch of little posts on the site lately

Other stuff going on:

~Tooth pain is gone! I was even able to eat cold food the other day without pain, so this is a HUGE improvement 🙂 The only soreness is from where they put the needles in my jaw muscles to numb me up, and a little bit around the hole where the tooth was.

~Today is Donna & Bill’s anniversary! They’ve been married 40+ years and were together for 13 years before they got married!

~Went to the library today and checked out a ton of books. The last batch I got were only ok, so I’m hoping this batch will be better. I’m also trying to keep track of all the books I read this year on Goodreads, so if you happen to be on there, find me and we can be friends!

~We found out at work that our last day will NOT be 2/15/15 like we all thought. We’re not sure if they’ll keep us into March, but they said they’d have that info for us by mid-March. I guess knowing that they’ve extended our contracts a bit is nice.

How’d it get to be 2015?

Well, it’s been an awfully long time. There’s been plenty going on but I guess I tend to feel like no one cares. Oh well, this should be for me not “them” so here I go.

August saw the start of a job for me. I’m working in a call center, helping people get enrolled in the Affordable Care Act. It isn’t glamorous, and some days I get cussed out (like today) but then other days I really help people and it’s great to hear. I especially love when people ask for my direct extension, though we don’t have one, so that they can call me back every time they have issues. We’re not sure how long this job will last past February 15th, but its a job for now so I’ll take it and when it ends, I’ll look for something else.

In October Garrett started his work-at-home job as a Supervisor for a team that replies to emails that people send into Starbucks. It works out well as he can check in with Mom & Dad and with only one car for the 2 of us, him working at home means we don’t have to work out a travel schedule.

Thanksgiving was celebrated at Cousin Debbie’s, who made delicious food and we had a great time with the family that could make it.

Christmas was a smaller celebration, with Christmas Eve hosted by Aunt Sandy and then we opened presents with Mom & Dad before going out for Chinese food for lunch on Christmas Day. Hopefully in the future, we’ll be able to alternate spending theh9olidays with my family in Chicago. Its a goal at least 🙂

October also started the tooth pain fiasco that I’ve been dealing with. What started as a couple of fillings turned into a suspected infection and bite adjustment. Then the pain became pretty much constant and that lead me to dentist number 2 and a verdict of “girding and clenching” which is hard to do when I’m a mouth breather, and have been my whole life. Fortunately the pain went a way for a while but then came back with a vengeance in December. I got really good at eating soft foods, warm foods and only using one side of my mouth. Then the day after Christmas the pain got so bad I was in tears, despite lots of pain killers. So Garrett called his old dentist (#3 at this point) who thought, again, it was an infection and said go to the ER, asap. Well, the ER had a 6 hour wait to get a bed and an 8-9 hour wait to see a doctor (it is flu season, after all) so we got me some drugstore numbing stuff and in the morning I went to Urgent care. They suspected infection so one antibiotic shot and prescription later and I made the follow-up dentist appointment

That appointment discovered the pulp of the back molar being very high and the filling possibly irritating the pulp and thus causing pain. So he drilled the filling out (which was deeper than the x-rays showed, further reaffirming his theory) and gave me a temporary one until I could get a root canal. Well, root canal had to be done by a specialist and it’d take 2 weeks for that to happen. And for a while I thought I could wait that long, but after 4-5 days of constant pain, being woken up in the middle of the night from pain, and lots of Tylenol with codeine, I called and was able to schedule an extraction sooner than the root canal.

And after I got a handle on the tooth pain, I came down with sinus and ear infections! Fortunately more antibiotics are clearing that out nicely. Though I feel even more now that I need to follow up with an Ear/Nose/Throat doctor. The sinus infection started with my tonsils getting so swollen they were almost touching, and I wasn’t able to talk. So that’s something I’d definitely like to take care of 🙂

Tooth extraction is tomorrow, so wish me luck. Otherwise I’m going to try and post more in 2015!

Happy new year, friends!
